The event commenced with a heartfelt welcome address by our President, Prof Jin-Guang TENG, followed by an insightful speech by Ir YAU Kwok Fai, the Executive Director of Able Engineering Holdings Limited, esteemed PolyU alumnus, and recipient of the PolyU Fellowship in 2017. His talk, titled “Guiding Lights: The Mentors Who Shaped My Journey”, highlighted the transformative power of mentorship in his career. He expressed his gratitude to one of his mentors, Prof. Jan-Ming KO, Emeritus Professor (Structural Engineering) from the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering, who was also an honourable guest at the dinner. The evening was further enriched by an “Integration” video, showcasing PolyU’s vibrant and culturally diverse campus life, and elevated by a mesmerising classical music performance by the PolyU Orchestra.
The dinner was attended by around 230 students from various departments in PolyU, with over half being non-local students representing 27 countries, reflecting PolyU's commitment to fostering a dynamic and inclusive academic community.
