Flag-raising Ceremony and Inauguration

A PolyU Student Flag Raising Team was established in the academic year 2022/23, consisting of over 40 local and non-local students at PolyU, to raise students’ sense of social responsibility and affection for the nation. The team is in charge of raising the national flag and the HKSAR flag on campus to mark important University events such as New Year’s Day, HKSAR Establishment Day, PolyU’s Anniversary and National Day.

With professional and intensive training offered by the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association, the Correctional Services Department and the Fire Services Department from the HKSAR government, our Flag Raising Team put in all efforts to learn the etiquette and skills of flag-raising before their actual missions. The first flag-raising mission they took part in was the ceremony of New Year’s Day for 2023, which was accomplished flawlessly.

The PolyU Student Flag Raising Team Inauguration Ceremony 2023/24 was held on 11 May 2023 to inaugurate this newly formed team. More than 60 participants, including PolyU’s Central Management Team, Deans and other guests, witnessed this special occasion and showed enthusiastic support to the team. 19 members were promoted to Advanced Members of the team, whilem 10 Advanced Members have formed the PolyU Student Flag Raising Team Committee, all ready to serve with deeper commitment.
