Message from the Dean

IMG_0542cThe Student Affairs Office (SAO) takes pride in presenting the Annual Highlights for the academic year 2023/24. This publication showcases our unwavering commitment to nurturing the holistic development of our students and fostering an inclusive and vibrant campus community.

As we look back over the past year, I am filled with pride and gratitude for the unwavering enthusiasm and commitment demonstrated by every member of the SAO team. Our dedication to student success shined through as our PolyU Sports Teams clinched the Grand Slam title for the sixth consecutive year. We rejoiced in the triumphs of the PolyU Sportsmen for the 2023 Asian Games and World University Game, underscoring our commitment to supporting and nurturing sporting excellence.

In line with our goal of providing enriching experiences for our students, we introduced several new initiatives this year. We organised the first President's Luncheon with the outstanding student awardees and presidential student leaders for an inspiring exchange with the President and the senior management. Additionally, we hosted a high table dinner cum the Dean of Students talk, fostering meaningful interactions and intellectual exchange among our students and the honourable guests.

Our commitment to fostering students’ personal and professional development continued through various student development programmes. The EAGLE trip to Nepal provided students with an immersive cross-cultural experience, while the Amigos activities fostered cross-cultural peer support within the university community. The INSPIRE Mentorship programme broadened students' horizons and aided their growth.

Recognising the importance of mental well-being, we organised a series of wellness activities during the PolyU Positivity Project, emphasising the influential nature of gratitude and positivity, which have left a lasting impact on our students' daily lives.

As we look ahead, SAO remains steadfast in its mission of empowering students to excel academically, embrace challenges, and emerge as future leaders who positively impact society, creating a visionary legacy that inspires generations to come.
