PolyU Holds Flag-raising Cerermonies
Since its establishment in January 2023, the PolyU Student Flag Raising Team has trained over 70 undergraduate and postgraduate students to perform flag-raising ceremonies on important days, such as New Year’s Day, HKSAR Establishment Day, the anniversary of the founding of PolyU and National Day. The team recruits new members every semester and provides training offered by professional organisations, such as the Hong Kong Army Cadets Association.
Various activities have been organised to enrich the experience for the team members, including a one-day military experience camp, a team-building day camp, exchange events with Flag Raising Teams from other universities, and setting up a promotion booth at the Orientation Showcase. Team members also had the opportunity to share their experience with Prof. Ben Young, Vice President (Student and Global Affairs) at lunch.
The PolyU Student Flag Raising Team Certificate Presentation and Appreciation Dinner was held on 23 May 2024 at U. Green. During the event, 25 members were promoted to Advance Members of the Team to recognise their outstanding performance. This recognition has nurtured a sense of belonging and encouraged Advance Members to take on more responsibility and commitment to hosting flag-raising ceremonies.
