The University and its subsidiaries have taken out the following insurance to protect Council Members in discharging their role:
| (a) | Educators’ Liability Insurance/Directors’ and Officers’ Liability Insurance; |
| (b) | Trustee Liability Insurance; and |
| (c) | Public Liability Insurance. |
The Educators’ Liability Insurance/Directors’ and Officers’ Liability Insurance indemnify Council Members against loss arising from any claim by reason of wrongful act in the discharge of their institutional duties, or any claim against them solely by reason of their serving the University.
The Trustee Liability Insurance indemnifies Council Members who act as trustee of the PolyU Superannuation Fund against loss for which the trustee shall become legally obligated to pay on account of any claim by reason of wrongful act in the course of executing any of the functions of the trust.
The Public Liability Insurance indemnifies Council Members against liability at law for accidental third party bodily injury and/or accidental damage to a third party’s tangible property arising from any claim in connection with the business of the University.
