A high-level delegation from PolyU recently embarked on a fruitful European tour, deepening collaborations with renowned universities and top-tier high schools in Switzerland, Poland, and the Netherlands. Led by Council Chairman Dr Lam Tai-fai, the delegation included Professor Jin-Guang Teng, President; Professor Christopher Chao, Vice President (Research and Innovation); and Professor Ben Young, Vice President (Student and Global Affairs). They visited ETH Zurich in Switzerland, University of Warsaw in Poland, and Delft University of Technology in the Netherlands – all recognised as top tertiary institutions in their respective countries.

In a series of meetings with senior leadership and campus visits, representatives from PolyU and the host institutions exchanged insights on education, research, talent nurturing, innovation, and academic collaboration.

A highlight of the visit was the signing of a formal partnership agreement between PolyU and University of Warsaw (UW) for a dual bachelor's degree programme initiated by the Department of Applied Social Sciences at PolyU and the Faculty of Political Science and International Studies at UW.

Apart from visiting SHL Schweizerische Hotelfachschule Luzern, one of the best Swiss hotel management schools in Lucerne, Switzerland, the delegation also visited two top-tier high schools in Switzerland and Poland. These school visits aimed to engage with the schools’ senior management teams and recruit high-calibre students to study at PolyU. Furthermore, the delegation paid courtesy visits to the Chinese Embassies in each country, discussing educational matters with Chinese Ambassadors.

The trip proved to be a valuable opportunity for PolyU to strengthen international partnerships. The University will continue leveraging outbound visits to expand its global network, fostering collaborative endeavours and actively recruiting international students to join the vibrant PolyU community.
