“Hearing Every Voice: Dialogue Promotes Inclusion – The Way We Talk Film Screening and Pre-Screening Sharing Session” was successfully held on 11 April at the Jockey Club Auditorium. The event drew over 700 participants, including PolyU students, staff, alumni, as well as representatives from non-profit organisations. Ms Linda Lam, Chairperson of Equal Opportunities Commission and Mr Arthur Lee, Treasurer of the University, also attended as distinguished guests.
The evening began with opening remarks from Prof. Miranda Lou, Executive Vice President, and Ms Cecilia Ho, President of Lee Hysan Foundation. The pre-screening discussion, moderated by Prof. Horace Mui, Interim Dean of Students, featured director Mr Adam Wong and lead actor Mr Marco Ng, who shared their inspirations and experiences during the filmmaking process. PolyU student Trinity Yeung and alumnus Jess Shek, both with special educational needs, spoke about the University’s efforts to foster an inclusive and accessible learning environment, and reflected on their personal journeys from campus to the workplace. The guests also exchanged views on how to build a more inclusive society.
A highlight of the evening was the live performance of the film’s theme song ‘What if’ by young actors Wong Wai Hang and Cheng Chun Hei, who delivered a touching rendition through singing, guitar, and Hong Kong Sign Language — earning a warm round of applause from the audience.
PolyU is committed to continuing to work with the wider community to promote diversity and build a more inclusive society.
