Student Halls of Residence (Homantin)

Comprising of two residential colleges and four individual halls, Homantin Halls accommodates over 1600 students in total. Each residential college and individual hall features a distinctive theme. Together, they form a living-learning community for our students to grow and develop.

Residential college is overseen by a College Master, a number of Resident Fellows and Tutors while there are one Warden and 5 Tutors in each individual hall.

College Master or Hall Warden is a University staff member appointed to provide pastoral care to student residents, ensuring their general well-being and compliance with hall-related regulations and policies. He/She is also responsible for maintaining a safe and healthy environment conducive to learning and development, as well as providing guidance to hall activities in the respective hall community.

Resident Fellows are academic staff appointed to provide training, coaching and mentoring for residents according to the themes of their respective residential college.

Hall Tutors are mostly postgraduate students appointed to assist the Warden in building up a harmonious and yet vibrant hall community. Living on the student floors and serving as the first contact point with the student residents, the hall tutors play an active part in the social life of the hall community and help enforce hall discipline.

Please feel free to talk to your Master/Warden and Resident Fellows/Tutors whenever you need them for advice and assistance. They are always ready to listen to you.

Introduction

IMG_20190125_133844s2

The establishment of the Homantin Halls of Residence marks a new page of the development of student residence of the University. Comprised of 6 individual halls, the 25-storey Hall accommodates about 1,600 students.

It provides single room, double and triple rooms to suit the needs of different students. The design of 9-person-suite facilitates the formation of small communities among residents and thus encourages interaction and integration, while offer adequate privacy to students. A small communal space is included in each unit to offer students a platform for mingling and interaction.

There are 3 Sky Gardens, each shared by and linking 2 individual halls. The Sky Garden is a semi outdoor space which encourages interflow among different halls and offers a pleasant environment for leisure. Apart from the Sky Gardens, other outdoor space includes Podium Garden and Entrance Plaza, all of which are tastefully landscaped to create a pleasant living environment. Besides, the Central Student Lounges in each hall, communal areas at corridor ends and living rooms in each cluster are also great platforms for students’ interflow.
