Aims & Characteristics

At PolyU, innovation and technology drive an academic environment that fosters national pride, social responsibility, and a global mindset. Our Bachelor's Degree Scheme offers students the time and flexibility to explore various fields related to construction and the environment, helping them to make informed decisions about their preferred programme towards the end of their first year of studies and to prepare for professional careers in the construction industry and the environmental field. For the specific aims of the individual programmes and schemes, please refer to the individual programme/scheme pages.

Recognition & Prospects

Undergraduate programmes at the Faculty of Construction and Environment prepare students for professional careers and leadership positions in a range of disciplines. Most of these programmes are accredited/recognised by professional organisations, namely the Hong Kong Institution of Engineers (HKIE), the Hong Kong Institute of Surveyors (HKIS), the Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), the Chartered Institution of Building Services Engineers (CIBSE) of the United Kingdom, the Institution of Occupational Safety and Health (IOSH) of the United Kingdom, and the Chartered Institution of Civil Engineering Surveyors (CICES). For details on professional recognition, please refer to the individual programme/scheme pages.

Curriculum

All admitted students will embark on a Common Year One curriculum. Towards the end of year one, students can choose their preferred programme through a ranking assessment, which considers a combination of entrance qualification score, Year One GPA, and interview performance.
