Student Message

I am having an extraordinarily productive time as a student in the BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy programme at PolyU. Of course, being a first-year student in a completely new place was daunting. However, with the substantial help offered by the university and programme leaders, I quickly adapted to my new environment and study routines. I have absorbed a great amount of fundamental knowledge about the human body and body movement this year, which is crucial for my progress in future studies. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we had to attend our classes via online platforms this year. However, these online classes improved my skills in autonomous learning and time management. Also, the online lesson arrangement allowed us to learn and study more proactively than in-person learning. I had a wonderful time making new friends, joining orientation days and participating in various university events. I am certain that the learning environment provided by PolyU will equip me with sound clinical, social and communication skills, so I can continue with confidence on my journey to become a good physiotherapist.

Yeung Tik Sum

The BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy programme incorporates knowledge and skills from all aspects of physiotherapy. The experienced lecturers and tutors guide us to become competent physiotherapists. They are always willing to help their students, thereby building a nurturing and supportive environment. Throughout the practical studies and clinical placements, I have gained on-field experience and had the opportunity to become proficient in examining, diagnosing and treating patients. The strong bonds between students also give me a sense of belonging to the programme, and we have organised volunteer services and sports competitions to create a vibrant and fun extracurricular university life for physiotherapy students. Our eagerness to learn also cultivates an inspiring and proactive learning environment at the university. Despite the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, we have continued sharing ideas and our understanding our profession through robust discussions. This strong cohesion and learning atmosphere have motivated me to continually strive to improve myself and seek enriching experiences.

Cheung Chun Ho

My studies in the BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy programme at PolyU have been an enjoyable and remarkable journey, equipping me with the skills and attitudes needed to be a competent and compassionate physiotherapist. In my first year of study, the abundant resources in the anatomy lab have enabled me to understand anatomy comprehensively, which is an indispensable foundation for professional physiotherapy practice. The early exposure to and practice with various innovative technologies also helps us become familiar with future on-field practice scenarios. Opportunities to practice under the guidance of clinical educators not only enhance our competence but also help nurture core attitudes like empathy. One of the most valuable aspects of the programme is the teachers who consistently share their vast knowledge with students and guide them in finding answers to their questions. We also have unbreakable bonds with our peers at PolyU. We never hesitate to help each other, practice together and improve as a team. I truly enjoy studying physiotherapy at PolyU and am honoured to be part of this big family.

Wong Piu Fat

Studying in the BSc (Hons) in Physiotherapy programme at PolyU brings me immense pleasure. This 4-year programme not only provides me with a comprehensive education, but also offers invaluable opportunities to acquire a broad range of knowledge and practical experience ranging from the implementation of cutting-edge technologies to on-field practice. One aspect of our classroom experience that I deeply appreciate is the active participation and inquisitiveness of my fellow students. We frequently engage in stimulating discussions and ask numerous questions, and I am immensely grateful to our professors for their patient responses each time. In addition, we form study groups outside the classroom where we collaborate and support one another, share our learning experiences and collectively prepare for exams. This collaborative environment fosters our proactive approach to learning.

One indispensable aspect of our education is the clinical placements, which I consider an essential component of my learning journey. Through these placements, I have had the privilege of working with real patients under the guidance of experienced clinical educators. This hands-on experience not only enhances my knowledge but also equips me with up-to-date practical skills, ensuring that I become a competent physiotherapist in the future.

In addition to these invaluable learning opportunities, my time at PolyU has been enriched by various extracurricular activities. The PolyU student community has been instrumental in organising a wide range of events, such as orientation camps, photo days and sports competitions. These activities have not only allowed me to have a great time but have also provided me with the opportunity to meet wonderful individuals who have become true friends.

Overall, my journey as a BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy student at PolyU has been fulfilling due to a holistic education that combines theoretical knowledge, practical experience and memorable social interactions. I am grateful for the treasured learning opportunities and the vibrant university life that have contributed to shaping me into a well-rounded individual and a future competent physiotherapist.

The BSc (Hons) Physiotherapy programme has been tremendously rewarding for me, both academically and personally. A nurturing environment has been fostered by professors and peers who are always eager to give advice and encouragement. This support has been crucial in helping me navigate the rigorous coursework and gain a deeper understanding of physiotherapy practice.
