In the latest “Highly Cited Researchers 2024” list by Clarivate Analytics, PolyU has reinforced its global research excellence with 16* academics being named for their significant impact in their respective fields. This prestigious list highlights the world’s most highly cited researchers, and the inclusion of PolyU’s scholars is a testament to the University’s commitment to research and academic excellence, dedicated to making a broad positive societal impact.

The scholars on the list have authored multiple papers ranking in the top 1% by citations in their respective fields and publication year in the Web of Science over the past 11 years. This year’s list features 6,636 researchers from 59 countries and regions across diverse research fields.

PolyU’s research influence extends beyond this achievement. The University ranks third among Hong Kong tertiary institutions, with 355 scholars recognised in Stanford University’s World's Top 2% Most-cited Scientists 2024 list based on career-long and single-year citation impact. Furthermore, the University has strengthened its research capabilities by recruiting 13 internationally renowned scholars through the Government-initiated Global STEM Professorship Scheme.
