PolyU’s original musical – Forward and Beyond captivated audiences at the Jockey Club Auditorium, commemorating the University’s 30th Anniversary of achieving university status. The production brought together professional performers and PolyU members to showcase the University’s vibrant history and achievements.

 

Presented by the PolyU Artists’ Alliance and produced by “Actors’ Family”, the musical was guided by Dr Liza Wang, the Convenor of the PolyU Artists’ Alliance, a veteran performing artist, and the University’s 2020/21 Artist-in-Residence. The performance featured professional artists Mr Raymond Young and Mr Gary Tam, alongside 36 PolyU students, staff, and alumni, delivering a heartfelt experience for the audience.

The production highlighted significant milestones in PolyU’s history, from Service-Learning to space technology achievements, embodying the University's motto “To learn and to apply, for the benefit of mankind”. Notable contributors included Mr Leung Kin-fung, an Alliance member, PolyU Fellow, and the University’s 2022/23 Artist-in-Residence and Mr Alex Tam, the University’s 2023/24 Artist-in-Residence and conductor of the PolyU Choir.

 

The 3-day musical attracted nearly 700 guests and members of the PolyU community for its premier, bringing them together to enjoy a mesmerising performance that resonated with significant moments of the University.
