Establishment of Two New Residential Colleges at Homantin Halls

CURI Residential College – the First Residential College at PolyU

In 2021/22, the College of Undergraduate Researchers and Innovators (CURI) Residential College was established to provide accommodation and guidance to participants of the Undergraduate Research and Innovation Scheme. Opportunities will be lined up for the residents to meet up with professors, experts, innovators and entrepreneurs from various disciplines and fields so as to enhance their knowledge discovery and research skills, and to encourage them to explore real-life applications.

Establishment of the Second Residential College in the Homantin Student Halls

To provide students with a vibrant living and learning environment which emphasises the provision of diverse opportunities for holistic development, in addition to the pursuit of academic excellence, the Special Talents Admission and Recognition Scheme (STARS) Residential College has been established in the Homantin Student Halls in the academic year 2022/23. The new STARS Scholarship Scheme has also been launched to provide additional support to students with special talents in sports, arts and culture, leadership and community services, and STEM.

Opening of Global Student Hub

The Global Student Hub is a new on-campus facility that serves a key step towards further promoting student development, integration and internationalisation. It provides a new physical space for student activities and a place to help develop local and non-local students’ ability to connect with peers from diverse backgrounds and to become more open-minded in embracing cultural differences – an invaluable quality in the inter-connected world. A grand opening ceremony was organised on 18 October 2021, coloured by the student performers from the Hall Dance Team, the Indonesian Student Association, nonlocal students and orchestra members with their cultural performances.
