It is characterized by recording the activity changes of specific neurons in specific behavioral paradigms through optical technology, and can observe the neural projection activities of animals in complex behaviors in real time. It is of great significance to study the function of specific neural circuits in different behavioral paradigms. With the emergence of new photogenetic neurotransmitter fluorescent probes, the application scope of the system has been further broadened, enabling it to record the dynamic changes of neurotransmitters (such as dopamine, acetylcholine, adenosine, etc.) in specific brain regions in real time during animal behavior. It has become an important tool for studying the changes of neurotransmitters in vivo.
