Dean's Sharing
Welcome to the Student Affairs Office (SAO) Annual Highlights for 2022/23. As per our inaugural issue published last year, this Highlights publication covers the major achievements and fruits of the work of SAO over the past academic year, as well as sharing from some of our dedicated students.
With the welcome return of normality after COVID-19, SAO has embraced an array of opportunities to resume activities that had come to a standstill for the past three years. Thanks to our colleagues’ boundless zest and dedication, SAO remained a supportive companion, and even a quasi-mentor, for our students in their pursuit of all-round education at the University.

A PolyU Student Flag Raising Team was established in the academic year 2022/23, consisting of over 40 local and non-local students at PolyU, to raise students’ sense of social responsibility and affection for the nation. The team is in charge of raising the national flag and the HKSAR flag on campus to mark important University events such as New Year’s Day, HKSAR Establishment Day, PolyU’s Anniversary and National Day.
In the 2022/23 Inter-Collegiate Competitions, organised by the University Sports Federation of Hong Kong, China (USFHK), PolyU’s sports teams shone again with their remarkable achievements. The teams bagged 16 championships, 10 spots of 1st runners-up and three titles of 2nd runners-up among the 33 sports events in which they participated. They also won the Yearly Men’s and Yearly Women’s Overall Championships for the fifth year in a row.
Achievements
Outstanding Student Award & Presidential Student Leadership Award Presentation Ceremony
PolyU organises the Outstanding Students Award Scheme (OSA) annually to encourage students to thrive both academically and non-academically, as well as fostering their holistic development. The OSA is an initiative that is instrumental in achieving one of the University’s key missions: to nurture critical thinkers, effective communicators, innovative problem solvers and socially responsible global citizens.
Since 2020, the university-wide mentorship programme “INSPIRE” has been dedicated to enriching holistic education experience and facilitating all-round development for our students – both undergraduates and postgraduates – across all Faculties or Schools. This programme has been a great success through these years, thanks to the role models and prominent leaders from the robust network of the PolyU community.
