During the talk, our PolyU students and staff gained valuable knowledge and practical skills related to emergency preparedness. The training covered various topics, including survival skills for fires and other dangerous situations, administering cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR) and using an automated external defibrillator (AED), operating fire extinguishers and hose reels, and choosing the right escape route during an emergency.
Our Vice President (Student and Global Affairs), Prof Ben Young, participated in the demonstration session and tried operating a fire extinguisher during the event.
FSD also promoted three crucial emergency preparedness skills: "Extinguish and Prevent Fire," "Self-help and Help Others," and "Escape and Evacuate". Represented by different colours, red, yellow, and green, respectively, these skills are collectively termed the "three basic skills on emergency preparedness." By mastering these skills, participants will be better equipped to prepare for and respond to emergencies or contingencies.
By working together, we can build a safer, more resilient community.
